Whats this then? A whole doccumentary looking at the remarkable Charles and Ray Eames? Can it really be true? It is enough to bring a spring to the saggiest of seats! Directed by Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey, the film is narrated by man-of-the-moment James Franco and combines stunning primary sources with delightfull interviews with people who had the pleasure of working with the husband and wife team. Eames have produced some of the most iconic designs of the 20th centuray including furniture, architecture, exhibition design but mostly their approach to the concept of design and art as a way of life not just a practice.

Incase you can't tell, we cannae wait to see it but will have to unless we can hot foot it to the US for the preview screening on the 28th of this month. Look out for screanings near you, and you'll probably find us nesteling in the corner spelling out E-A-M-E-S with Elsie Dodds Cushions.

The dark nights are closing in, so it's time to enjoy the last of the light light nights. This song and video has really summed up summer. Enjoy. "Golden Tree" by Martin Brooks from Ninian Doff .

Geotography is the new word of the moment here at Elsie Dodds Towers. Apparently it describes circular, geometric designs created using only the rotation of typorgaphic letters, yes there is a word to describe the combination of 2 of our geekish loves! This project by Omar Fahmi, seest his above designs screenprinted onto T-shirts for the incredible Poundshop 4. Don't you just love repeate fold symetry in alphabet action? Available off the peg are B, C & D, but all on offer to order unless I am very much mistaken, for just £1?! Such beautiful results. Geek over and out.

We have had an inspirational afternoon here at Elsie Dodds studio. We've been rumaging through the stacks of beautiful, printed textiles yet to be released and dreaming up new creations for the future.

Cotton & silk, retail & fashion were definately on our agenda and we hope to share some more highlights over the coming weeks. In the mean time...take it away Zooey Deschanel!

A recent visit to Spoon Bistro on Nicholson Street, Edinburgh was made even tastier by settling into their beautifully decorated alcove. A pattern lovers slice of heaven.

These great alphabet bricks are on display in an enchanting little Parisian toy shop, Si Tu Veux. We love the shop's eclectic mix of traditional wooden toys and well designed contemporary toys made from a range of materials and textures. Located in the stunning Galerie Vivienne this mall transports shopping back to 1826, where the sweetie shop offers you tastes samples while your doll visits the hospital next door, c'est la vie!

What a fantastic design, this vintage children's domino set is enough to make you want to learn to count all over again, or perhaps in a different language? Un, deux, trois, quatre... this may take some time and all thanks to Alison Hardcastle's recent post.

There has been rather a lot of interesting designs produced along The Royal Wedding theme, but nothing has topped these Donna Wilson mitens. Love or Hate Wills & Kate, who could resist practising their right royal wave with these on! Hope you've enjoyed your Bank Holiday!

We have just seen signs of the alphabet taking over East London. This graffiti project is carried out with full permission from the shop owners whose metal shutters are emblazoned with their own Alpha-icon and it makes us smile!

We were just pleased as punch to see our repeat print fox cushions featured on The Edinburgh and Glasgow List's front cover and just overjoyed by the ace A-board! The cover was shot in Edinburgh's own Technicolour - the inspiring fashion studio/shop who stock our alphabet cushions and share our love for outstanding design, and the humble triangle.

This March/April edition is a landmark cover in The List's history as it transforms into a monthly magazine with lots of meaty, feature length articles. The first of which is a showcase of Scottish boutiques and the unique, locally designed products available and Elsie Dodd's new repeat print cushions were included in this feature.

These bright, eye catching designs contain some of our favourite motifs created for the Alphabet Cushions and compliment the original design. They are currently exclusive to The Red Door Gallery as a limited collection at £39. We promise to show you more designs here soon!

With the cold weather looming it's that time of year to get all homely and get ready for hibernating indoors. The idea of refreshing the home and redecorating is always a fun way to approach the winter months, especially when it comes to kids bedrooms. Check out Style Guru, Sonia Murton's article from 'The Guide' (a local guide from my home town) for some tips and advice. We're loving these mushroom wall vinyl's from Dotmaison a great tool for some imaginative play!

It is the last week of the International Festival here in Edinburgh, so a last chance to see some of the great things that have been taking place this month. We were very fortunate to meet the talented designers that are Bold and Noble at Pulse who have written a great blog about the show and the Elsie Dodds 'Alphabet Cushions'. Bold and Noble create beautiful affordable prints onto recycable card for peoples' homes. We particulary love this alphabet print!
